Opera released a platform called Opera Platform SDK where application developer can develop web applications based on well known web technologies such as XHTML, CSS and javascript, together with XMLHttpRequest. Thus opera enable developers to develop rich internet application in mobile phones too. In addition, Developers can easily adapt existing content and Web applications to run on mobile phones using Opera Platform.

I feel j2me developers need to think of adopting this for application development. The problem of porting can be avoided to at-least 50%.- 60 %.
