Google launched the sms search in india. You can now do local search from mobile, send sms WEB<space>’Search Query’, to 54664 (5GOOG), google will send you the first web result . You will get an instant result in mobile as sms. Early 2003-04 they launched the service in US. As the mobile penetration in india is very much higher as compared to US they released it over in india.

The other fact is that google can even allow us to search for factoids you can send the ‘Capital India’ to 54664, and the service allow as to search weather if you query ‘Weather Chennai’

There is a catch behind this. Google local search is only available in selected cities currently. Another catch is that you are unlucky if you are a Tata Indicom, Vodafone, MTNL or Spice customer. 

And about cost, Yes its a premium service sms ranges from Rs.80 (BSNL) and Rs 2 (Airtel) to Rs 3 (Aircel, BPL, Relaince).
